PROVINCIAL SUNDAY

PROVINCIAL SUNDAY
February 8th, 2026
My sisters and brothers in Christ,

Grace, peace, and blessings to all from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
On this Provincial Sunday, we gather in unity across our Province and give thanks for the wonderful gifts of fellowship, shared mission, and a rich heritage of faith that binds us together. Provincial Sunday reminds us that we are not isolated dioceses, parishes, and congregations, but one people—called, equipped, and sent by God to witness to His love throughout our many communities and the wider region.

As we reflect upon our calling, may the Word of God guide and enrich us. “For we are labourers together with God” (1 Corinthians 3:9). This sacred reminder invites us to recognize that our various ministries—diverse though they may be—are shaped by our awareness of one divine mission, empowered by the Holy Spirit and sustained by God’s grace.

May our observance of Provincial Sunday renew our commitment to work together for God’s Kingdom, to uphold one another in prayer, and to strengthen the bonds of love, service, and cooperation that define our shared Anglican identity and ethos. As we celebrate, let us be mindful of our responsibility to be bearers of hope, agents of compassion, and ambassadors of Christ’s reconciling grace to our hurting world. Let us also commit to supporting the work of the Church by freely giving of our time, talent and treasure.

May the Holy Spirit inspire us afresh, deepen our devotion, and empower our ministries as we continue walking, listening, and serving together.

I invite us to pray this prayer as we gather as a Provincial family:
Almighty and Everlasting God, source of all wisdom, peace, and grace, look mercifully upon Your Church
throughout this Province. Bind us together in the unity of the Spirit and in the bond of peace. Remove from us all pride, division, and hardness of heart, that we may serve You with humility, compassion, and steadfast love. Grant that our words and deeds may reflect the light of Christ, and that our shared ministry may strengthen the weak, comfort the weary, and bring hope to all who seek Your saving presence. Unite us in purpose, guide us in truth, and empower us for faithful service, so that in all things Your holy name may be glorified. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Have a blessed, joyful and uplifting Provincial Sunday.

Yours in Christ,
The Most Reverend Philip S. Wright, B.A., M.A., OBE
