Who We Are
The Church in the Province of the West Indies (CPWI) is one of 38 member provinces in the worldwide Anglican Communion. The church comprises eight dioceses spread out over much of the West Indies area (two mainland Dioceses and six island Dioceses located around the Caribbean Sea). The present position of Archbishop and Primate of the West Indies is held by John Holder. The church is also part of the Global South.
A Mission Statement
The Church in the Province of the West Indies is committed to the proclamation of The Gospel in word and deed, following the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20), and being the sign and sacrament of the Trinity.
It therefore seeks to bring persons to faith in Our Triune God, to nurture and form them in their baptismal covenant and in their discipleship, within bonded relationships that express Christian and moral communities, and with a lively sense of the connection between worship and mission with our cultural heritage, symbols and styles.
It also seeks to foster genuine partnership with fellow Christians in the Anglican Communion, and with those in our ecumenical relation.
With the Gospel imperative, and with the Kingdom values of justice, peace and love, we are committed to sharing our resources to the social transformation of our love, we are committed to sharing our resources to the social transformation of our societies and to the persuation of our environment, so that our peoples may attain wholeness and fulfilment; that poverty; alienation, substance abuse and violence may not fester; and that our region may reflect the beauty and integrity of creation.
